Science cafes first began appearing in 1998 and have quickly spread over 1100 cafes worldwide. In fact, in the US, science cafes have more than tripled within the last 4 years. Currently, there are 380 cafes in 49 states!
Science Cafes are an exciting Grassroots movement for informal science and technology education. The goal of a Science Cafe is to encourage scientific conversation, debate, interaction and dialogue between scientists & the public among all audiences, even to those who may not typically get involved in scientific discussions.
Cafe Scientifique has a cafe like atmosphere complete with refreshments and social conversation with other people who have a strong interest in science and technology. It is accessible to the general public through a fun and social atmosphere very similar to a pub or coffee house. In addition, you will be able to engage in conversation with successful science and technology professionals.
Admission to Cafe Scientifique is FREE (except for refreshments, donations) and is open to all ages, and not just those with a science background!
